Who We Are
Man Cave Media Network started in August 2025 with a simple idea: there are a lot of good stories in Onslow County and the surrounding communities, and we wanted to help tell more of them — from Friday night football to the people, places, and programs that make this area home.
What began as a couple of guys sitting around talking high school sports has grown into a network covering local sports, community stories, and the people behind them.
Today, that includes Down East Prep Report, Man Cave Media: Quick Hits, Down East Sports Face to Face, Living Local, Living Local: Those Who Serve, Monday Night Film Room, and the newest venture, WMCM Man Cave Radio.
We're not a big network trying to cover everything everywhere.
We're a local one.
Built by people from here.

And telling stories about the communities we call home.
Because we think those stories matter — and they're worth spending a little time on.
Meet the Cave Dwellers
Man Cave Media is a small crew, and everybody found their way to THE CAVE a little differently.
Sports. Journalism. Education. Fire service. Broadcasting. And, in a few cases, just sitting down at the right table at the right time. Different backgrounds. Different personalities. And, as you'll figure out pretty quickly, different levels of actual sports knowledge.
But everybody brings something to the table.
Here's who's behind the microphones, in front of the cameras, and doing a little bit of everything in between.
Steve "Goody" Goodson

Steve Goodson, or Goody, as most people know him, spent more than 35 years in the electric cooperative world, most recently serving as Vice President of Corporate Communications and Business Strategy at Jones-Onslow EMC.
After retiring from Jones-Onslow in 2025, Steve started BLC Consulting, LLC. Finally, he had a little more time to spend on something he'd been kicking around for years — telling more of the stories happening right here in Onslow County and the surrounding communities.
That idea became Man Cave Media.
What started with a couple of guys sitting around talking high school sports has grown into a network covering local sports, community issues, interesting people, and the stories that sometimes don't get the attention they deserve.
Steve hosts Down East Prep Report with Chris Miller, along with Living Local, Living Local: Those Who Serve, Down East Sports Face to Face, and Man Cave Media: Quick Hits. He's also the guy usually working behind the scenes, lining up guests, finding sponsors, planning shows, and figuring out what Man Cave Media ought to try next.
When he's not doing that, Steve continues his work through BLC Consulting, helping organizations with leadership, communications, strategic planning, and customer service.
Steve and his wife, Beverly, call the Jacksonville/Onslow County area home.

Preston Kelly
Head Caveman & Voice of the Cave
Play-by-Pay, WMCM Man Cave Radio
Preston Kelly is one of the young voices of Man Cave Media, bringing the perspective of a local high school student-athlete who was just a few months ago.
A 2026 graduate of Southwest Onslow High School, Preston was a four-year member of the Stallions baseball program, finishing his career on the varsity roster while maintaining a 3.8 GPA. He earned multiple Player of the Game honors and has remained close to Southwest athletics, including serving as a statistician for the Stallions football program.
Preston is currently a student at Coastal Carolina Community College with plans to continue his education at the University of Mount Olive. At Man Cave Media, he serves as the play-by-play voice for WMCM Man Cave Radio's coverage of Southwest Stallions Football and as an analyst on Monday Night Film Room.
His connection to Man Cave Media started through Preston Kelly Media, his own platform for covering, scouting, and spotlighting local athletes. Preston and Steve Goodson began working together on local sports projects, and that relationship eventually grew into his current role with the network.
Preston continues to operate his own media platform and has a particular interest in giving area athletes — especially those who might otherwise fly under the radar — a little more attention and recognition.

Chris Miller

Down East Prep Report
Chris Miller is the sports editor of the Jacksonville Daily News, where he's covered local sports since 2003. He's a multiple-time NC Press Association award winner, the 2023 NCHSAA Tim Stevens Media Representative of the Year, and a two-time NC Soccer Coaches Association Media Person of the Year (2008 and 2026).
When Steve Goodson approached Chris about partnering on the Down East Prep Report, Chris says he was honored to be asked. The show has given him another way to recognize the accomplishments of area athletes and coaches while also sharing his own perspective on the local sports scene.
Chris brings more than two decades of local sports knowledge to THE CAVE, along with some experience on the other side of the sideline. He's a White Oak graduate who played football for the Vikings before graduating in 2000 and was part of the Jacksonville Raiders semi-pro football team from 2000 to 2002.
Away from work, Chris is a fan of the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves, UNC sports, and Bayern Munich soccer.
But for Chris, the best part of covering local sports is still the people. He says there's nothing quite like seeing how excited a young athlete gets when they're asked for an interview after a game — or hearing from a parent or coach who appreciates seeing their athletes recognized.
Chris and his wife, Veronica, have called Jacksonville/Onslow County home for most of their lives. They are the parents of teen Carsyn.

Dave Miller

Dave Miller describes himself as a combat veteran, a self-professed "corruptor of kids," a coach who's won a few games along the way, and a guy who just happens to have a face for radio.
Dave has called the Jacksonville area home since 1990, when he was stationed at Courthouse Bay with 2nd AA Bn. After returning from Desert Storm, he began coaching at Southwest and has been part of the local sports community ever since.
His Man Cave Media career started as a guest on the original 2M6P show at Bobby Mills' house. One appearance turned into another, and before long Dave became one of the show's regulars. Today, he's the host of Monday Night Film Room, joining Bob Warlick and Preston Kelly every Monday night to break down Friday night football and have a little fun along the way.
How did he end up with Man Cave Media in the first place? Dave isn't completely sure whether Bobby Mills or Steve "Goody" Goodson invited him. His other theory is that the whole thing is Goody's way of making up for all those years of fussing at him from the White Oak sidelines.
Sports have always been part of Dave's life. He played whatever was in season growing up — even spending some time in a Putt-Putt league — and some of his earliest sports memories are traveling with his grandmother to high school football and basketball games in New Jersey.
Ask Dave why he keeps showing up in THE CAVE and, well, his answer is a little less sentimental than everybody else's:
"I'm doing this for the free beer."
Bob Warlick

Bob Warlick is a third-generation attorney with the Law Offices of John Drew Warlick, P.A. in Jacksonville, where he has practiced personal injury law since 1997. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Bob graduated from Jacksonville High School before attending UNC Wilmington and Campbell Law School and eventually returning home to practice.
Bob’s connection to Man Cave Media goes back to Two Men and a Six Pack, where he and Steve “Goody” Goodson spent plenty of time together behind a microphone. The two have been friends for years, and when the idea for Monday Night Film Room came along, Bob was a natural fit.
And he brings plenty of football experience to the table. Bob has spent time as a volunteer coach and now serves as a color commentator and analyst on Jacksonville High School football radio broadcasts. Today, he brings that experience — and plenty of opinions — to Monday Night Film Room, co-hosting the show with Dave Miller alongside analyst Preston Kelly.
Away from the microphone and the courtroom, Bob is happiest spending time with his two teenage kids, both of whom are students at his alma mater, Jacksonville High School.
He also claims to be one of the better cornhole players in Onslow County.
Nobody in THE CAVE has actually seen enough evidence to confirm that claim.
But Bob keeps making it anyway.
“I grew up during the Ray Durham era, when they’d take 20 charter buses to away playoff games. That’s when I got hooked. Football is a microcosm of life — I love watching coaches teach discipline and toughness and seeing those players grow into husbands and fathers.”
Chris Raynor
Cave Color Man (Color Commentary)

Chris Raynor is a retired parole officer and former DPS Chief who has spent a good part of his life around sports — playing them, coaching them, supporting them, and talking about them.
While his kids were growing up, Chris coached Little League, and today he remains involved in local athletics as President of the Southwest Athletic Boosters. He's also a sports talk show host on WSME radio and has broadcast Jacksonville Ospreys baseball along with basketball games at the East Coast Invitational and Brandon Ingram Invitational.
Chris's connection to Man Cave Media came through Two Men and a Six Pack (2M6P) — the same show Dave Miller got his start on. While he wasn't part of the original crew, Chris joined the podcast and was a regular for several years — a show he now likes to call "defunct," even though the guys still manage to get together and record a few times a year.
That connection eventually led to his current role as the color commentary voice for WMCM Man Cave Radio's coverage of Southwest Stallions Football, where he works alongside Preston Kelly on Friday nights.
Away from the microphone, Chris enjoys racing cars and playing tennis. And after a career with DPS, he'll also happily remind you that he's retired, has his weekends off, and is now his own boss.
As for why he enjoys being behind a microphone? Chris doesn't need a long explanation.
"Because I get to talk incessantly."
Tim Foster
Cave Connector (Community Engagement)

Tim Foster has spent his career in public education — as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal — with much of that time devoted to working with student-athletes, coaches, and the schools and communities of Onslow County.
A lifelong Onslow County resident, Tim has also been involved in athletics throughout his career as a coach and through service on a number of athletic committees and boards across North Carolina. For him, education-based athletics have always been about more than wins and losses. They're an opportunity to teach character, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.
His connection to Man Cave Media goes back long before there was a Man Cave Media. Tim and Steve "Goody" Goodson have known each other for more than 45 years, and they share a love for Onslow County and a desire to promote the people and communities that make it home.
As The Cave Connector, Tim works in community engagement, helping Man Cave Media build relationships and tell the stories of local athletes, coaches, schools, and communities. You'll also be seeing — and hearing — more from him as he prepares to host a future Man Cave Media show.
But being behind a microphone is nothing new for Tim.
His father started radio coverage of Southwest football in the 1980s and put Tim on the air as an announcer when he was just 16 years old. All these years later, getting involved with Man Cave Media has brought him back to something that was part of his family long before he began his career in education.
For Tim, it's all connected — schools, sports, radio, and community.

Brian Kelly
Cave Fire Starter (Community Engagement)

Brian Kelly has spent more than 25 years in the fire service, beginning as a volunteer firefighter in 1998 and building a career around fire prevention, leadership, and community service. Today, he serves as a Fire Marshal — and will tell you he's still a firefighter at heart.
Brian and Steve "Goody" Goodson actually met through the fire service. Their paths crossed through fire inspections during Goody's previous career, a professional relationship became a friendship, and somehow that friendship eventually turned into a role with Man Cave Media.
As the Cave Firekeeper, Brian helps keep Man Cave Media connected to the people and communities it covers while also joining in the sports talk, stories, and whatever else happens around the table.
His sports résumé? According to Brian, there isn't one. He's never played organized sports and freely admits his sports knowledge can be questionable. But that's also part of what he enjoys about it. For Brian, sports are another way to bring people together — and, more importantly, something he gets to share with his son.
Brian is a husband, father, and believer in Faith, Family, and Fire. He also hosts The Carolina Fire Watch and co-hosts The Cool Fireman Podcast, so Man Cave Media isn't his first excuse to sit down in front of a microphone.
For Brian, the reason he keeps doing it is pretty simple:
"I love good people, good stories, and good conversations. Sports just give us another reason to have them, and hopefully laugh a little along the way."
